Do you like kiwi fruit butt naked with green flesh exposed, or are you one of those brave, plant based souls that enjoy eating the fuzzy fruit whole? There are several health benefits to eating the skin of this peculiar fruit, such as: fiber (the good “I gotta go poop” insoluble fiber at that) and Vitamin C. These two little nutritious gems are so common in plant based food, but it’s almost as if Mother Nature is saying that you can never have too much of it. The skin also has flavonoids, the good antioxidants that are anti-inflammatory and anti-aging as well.
Doesn’t this make the kiwi more attractive and edible to you? I can’t count how many times I’ve walked past the kiwis because I didn’t want to deal with peeling their fuzzy butts. Well, now I know that I can bite right into it like an apple, or cut it in half and scoop out the flesh and nibble on the skins later if I want an extra dose of nutrients. The possibilities are starting to become more on the endless side with I think of this fruit.
So next time you’re in the mood for kiwi, try to enjoy and appreciate the entire fruit for a change and see how you like it. The skin is more tart than the green flesh, but still pretty good. Open your world up to more nutrients and fiber in the fuzzy brown form. You deserve it.
