Dynamic Duo: Good food and friends…I actually left the house today and survived!

I like to think of myself as a “social butterfly” meaning, I’m friendly and will talk your head off when given the chance, yet I’m noticing that I rarely leave my comfort zone anymore (my home).  At home, I have my internet, books, food, juice, and my landline (remember those).  I’m comfortable and am guaranteed that I will remain comfortable in my sacred space, and my children will remain entertained and safe.  Now if I choose to go out, I’m risking my sanity because if my boys aren’t happy, then Mommy won’t be either.  Enough of that…today I actually got out of the house and met up with two other friends for lunch and I actually had a good time!635719688527386918

I had a duo guacamole and hummus salad with chips and a teeny-tiny sprinkle of pico de gallo (I wish there would have been more).  It’s a little difficult finding food that I like in restaurants where I currently reside.  I’ve surrendered to just eating at home, and I probably still will, but it was nice to see that some places out here have food that I like.  It is nice though to get out and socialize over good food, but I still want to stay committed to my healthy habits and not comprise them for the sake of running my mouth.  This dish was a gem to me!  I enjoyed delicious hummus, real guacamole and a beautiful pile of greens with two lovely ladies.  You know what else happened? My children had a great time and were good!  Yes, I still lost my cool a little, but they were just being children bursting with the excitement of life and embracing every moment of it.  They were in great company with other children who do the same.

Man, this post is about my beautiful dish of food (that I didn’t get to finish since I chose to let my boys distract me), but it’s also about the realization that when the people in your company are of like minds and good quality, you really are guaranteed to enjoy yourself no matter what.

WP_20150708_013 2So thank you to Valentina and Tanya for giving this homebody a reason to get out and socialize.  It was hot, humid and very messy with the icepops, but my children were happy which made me extremely happy.  I made it out alive!

Where do you live? Because if it’s hard to come by, you can always make it at home, you know?

    • I love it too! I make it all the time at home. I pretty much make everything at home, it’s just easier with the kids. MAAAANN! I thought about you when posting this, cause guess what I did?! I wore leggings loll! I rocked ’em with a shirt that went mid-booty, so I am on my way to one day going full blown booty out like you, hahahaha! I should’ve snapped a pic to put it in there and show you 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration. I live in Spain.
