The Drupe Diaries 2: Juicing Plums with my little man

I am happy to report that my delicious plums are ripening beautifully on the vine!  They are pretty much ready for the picking and last week the boys and I juiced a small bunch along with some apples and a little homemade date syrup.  It was de-li-cious!  It was so fragrant, had the right amount of tartness thanks to the plums (especially the skin), but finished off with a sweet kiss from the date gods.

Juicing fresh produce really is the best and fastest way to get your much needed nutrients.  It cleans you out (man did I have a mean diaper change after this one), prepares your body to better digest your meal, and the nutrition in the juice assimilates in your body within 15 minutes.  If those three things don’t make you want to juice, I really don’t know what will.

Apples have the minerals (Calcium, Phosphorus) for strong bones, teeth and nerves.  Plums have tons of minerals (Potassium!!), and I will get a finger cramp if I take the time to type all of the benefits about Dates!  So, instead I’ll just leave you with my quick little video to show off my son’s juicing skills and shed some light on the nutritional value of this drink.

Put down the juice boxes and pick up a juicer.  Let’s stop drinking dead juice that only shoots up our body with sugar, and start shooting up minerals and vitamins.
