Leibster Awards, Chain Letters and Cute Men, Oh My!

fortune tellerI remember drinking a tall glass of chocolate milk, while spinning in circles, and chanting my crush’s name in my head, right in the middle of the kitchen, smh.  That was thanks to my first chain letter, that I desperately wanted to believe worked, because I thought Lee was really, really cool and cute (he was funny and had really nice teeth). I was in the third grade.  Fast forward a few years and another welcomed chain letter came along, this time I had my eye on a different guy.  Well, as you may have guessed that one didn’t work out either.  I was attempting to manifest what I thought was my dream guy back then.  He didn’t come along until later in life, but I think I can now say that those chain letters worked!!

Sweet B-Day pic from my Suegra favorita (la unica jajaja). Gracias Mami!

Anyway, moving on…

Yay!  I have been nominated for a Leibster Award thanks to the beautiful Jatarian, Tesa via her  Blog.  These awards are so great because it just shows how we bloggers love to connect, read and learn about what makes other bloggers tick.  Thank you Tesa for making me feel so welcome in this blogosphere.  If you haven’t checked out her blog, ‘get yo’ life’ and check hers out: it’s Jamaican, it’s healthy, it’s everything veggie!  Oh and she is a fellow chocolate lover:).  I’m always intrigued to see how people survive out there in the real world on a plant based diet, especially on an island where so many things are imported.  The veggie diet is, in my opinion, the only diet that truly obeys the laws of nature, yet it’s the most difficult diet to follow in today’s world.

So the Liebster (German for many things like welcome, dear, lovely etc. (I think)) comes with 10 questions, then I nominate ten more fellow bloggers and ask them 10 questions… so let’s get to know each other shall we?

Here were my questions:

  1. What was your favorite TV show when growing up?  The Cosby Show!  I actually cried in my pillow when the last episode aired.  I was only 10-12ish (I think) and could not understand why that beautiful , successful family was leaving me.  Luckily, A Different World kept me pacified, love that show.
  2. Choose a movie title for the story of your life.  Lioness in Antarctica: Surviving Snow
  3. Can you play any instruments? In my younger years I did.  Now, I could play a simple beat on the drums.
  4. What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time? Listen to health lectures and research minerals.
  5. What is your favorite cereal?  Granola, and Blueberry Oatmeal
  6.  What, if anything, have you ever re-gifted?  Those smell good, shower body spray sets… I just told on myself.
  7. What’s the strangest talent you have?  To make children think I’m a bigger child
  8. What was your childhood nickname?  I had a bunch growing up.  One was Diana Ross–I had a lot of hair, and really thought I was a diva, I was ridiculous and so loved.  My awesome Uncle gave me that one.
  9. What are three things still left on your bucket list?  Visit Usha Village (Dr. Sebi), get my nose pierced, publish a book.
  10. What is the worst pet you have ever had?  My poor, blue parakeet, Pee-Wee… he had a heart attack in my hands, smh.

Now I nominate these interesting bloggers (in no particular order):

  1. Gray Suede
  2. Hush, Lola!
  3. Vegan Rescue
  4. I’ve Got Some Spaining to Do
  5. Kushite Kingdom
  6. The VGC Aesthetic
  7. Amy Juicebox
  8. The Original Black Woman 13
  9. The Vegan Lily
  10. Tiffany Rebekah Lifestyle

If any of you choose to opt out, no shade taken, not everyone is into this stuff, and that’s okay.  Plus, you very well may be just too damn busy blogging!

Here are my questions:

  1. What is the last thing you usually think about before going to sleep?
  2. If you could live anywhere (city, state or country), tax-free, where would you reside?
  3. How many languages do you speak?
  4. What’s one thing you do well with your hands?
  5. What animal best represents you?
  6. If you could own any franchise for free, would you take on that task?  If so, which one would it be?
  7. At what age did you first start to truly love yourself for who you are?
  8. Did you go to college?  Was it worth it lol?
  9. What’s your favorite color?
  10. What was your favorite candy growing up?  Can you still stomach it now?

So there you go!  I really look forward to reading all of the answers.  If you accept this award, simply post your answers, mention who nominated you, and nominate 10 more wonderful bloggers.

Thanks again Tesa…another birthday gift, what perfect timing you have!

  1. Aw chucks!!! Thanks for the nomination!! This isn’t quite the style of my blog but I might find a way to incorporate it in a new segment I’m thinking about starting 🙂 Might take me a little while though but if I do I’ll definitely let you know! Thanks again!!
PS: we do the exact same nerdy thing!! I watch ALL the health movies/documentaries online, ALL of them!! And crystals? The only reason I don’t buy a ton of them is because there’s no physical crystal shop where I live so I can’t go in and have a crystal “call” to me so I have to be very sure it’s the right one for me before I buy one.
Jatarian is AWESOME btw!! So many great recipes!!! Will check out the other blogs too when I have more time. This is such a great way to find new bloggers!! Diggin’ it!!!
