I keep brown bananas in the fridge, because you never know when you need some good, funky, sweetness only bananas can bless you with. They are great in cookies, cakes, muffins and most importantly smoothies. Slightly overbearing in flavor, in my opinion, so I usually stray from using an entire banana so that I can still taste the flavors of the other fruits. Anyway here is how I make one of our favorite (all the green ones are favorites), simple green smoothies. I’ll start a series of green smoothies. Not only because my millions of fans are waiting to be blessed by the Girlfriend Goddess, but also because this is the easiest way to file my recipes away. Blogging is awesome.
1/2-1 whole brown banana (the browner the better, how much is up to you and your taste for them)
1 Lemon wedge
1 cup of FROZEN mangos
1/2 cup Frozen peaches
1 Handful of fresh, clean, crisp kale leaves, no stems (hopefully you have a big hand 🙂
1/2 cup of real pineapple juice
1/2 spring or filtered water (to start, depends on your desired consistency)
Honey or Agave (* optional: save for the end to taste)
Process:
Add your water, juice and kale to Vitamix or other awesome blending mechanism. Blend on 10 and process until completely liquid.
Once you have your green magic sauce, add your fruits and either spritz of lemon or the entire piece of it, just without the skin.
Blend on 10, use your tamper and watch the magic happen
Add more water (preferably) or juice to get your desired consistency
Stop and taste your green potion. If it’s not tasty enough, add a drizzle of honey or agave.
***Makes about one decent adult size and two kiddie serving—I have no idea what that converts to in ounces or cups lol***
This smoothie is usually sweet enough for me without the drizzle, but my boys love to put honey in their smoothies…why not right? it’s better than a packet of red or purple sugar crystals.
Enjoy!
Delicious combination!
