New Year’s Resolution Idea

_EAC4078Come on, you know you have at least one new year’s resolution, either secretly, or maybe one that you have already shouted from your social media rooftops.  Well, in case you are looking to add another one to your list, or are still brainstorming one, I’m here to help!  Why not try doing a vegan transition?  I say vegan transition instead of going Vegan, because in reality, it is a true journey and takes time to fully commit.  Many people can go cold turkey, but then often find bumps of guilt later on down the road.

New Year’s resolutions are all about reinventing yourself, bettering your self, cleaning or losing something or fixing relationships.  Well, this one will pretty much take care of all of the above, here’s how:

Species-ism:

Why not ring in the new year with a new appreciation for all life.  I said in a previous post that sand is sand, whether it be clumped together in a bucket, beautifully laid on a beach, or a single grain in between your toes.  The same goes for life.  A cute puppy is just as precious as a little piglet.  A calf deserves the right to suckle from his mommy cow’s utter just as much as a newborn baby deserves the right to nurse his mamma the second he comes into this world.  People eating meat are physically making a statement that there are some lives inferior to others.  That another being doesn’t have the birthright of enjoying their life experience, so ‘we’ can have our protein and Vitamin B12 (ooh that’s another post on nutrition myths).  All lives deserve being conscious, happy, and living out their life experience.  Think about it.

Health:

Reason2_EAC3976 (2)Are you looking to get your sexy back, shrink your waistline, or how about just lower your cholesterol and prevent heart disease for starters?  Vegan diets are essentially cholesterol free!  That’s right, cholesterol free.  This lifestyle is not about bad fats, and won’t clog your arteries, but will actually better your circulation, leading to a healthier heart, and even better sex and more erections–men!  Yes, when your arteries are clear, and you are feeding your body the proper nutrition that actually assimilates in your body, your body will pay you back 10-fold. You will be pooping on a regular basis, get better sleep, have a clearer mind, and a healthier libido.  If you don’t believe me, try it for your self for a few weeks and see.

I would go on with other reasons, but I’ll stop there to prevent a sudden finger spasm.  Why?  Because there is enough research out there that has proven that meat is a carcinogen, just like cigarettes.  There are studies that prove that calorie restricted, high protein diets are horrible for your heart, cholesterol levels, and escort you to diabetes land full of comfy seats for your dialysis.  I say it’s time to wake up this new year, and see that all of the advertisements and books that are pushing these fad diets full of lean cut steaks and chicken breasts all promise the same, but in the end leave you with yo-yo diet syndrome and starving your body.

Think about it.  If it was truly necessary for us to eat animals, wouldn’t our intestines be shorter?  Saliva be that of a meat eaters? Have actual canine teeth?  Have the honest urge from infancy to track down and kill an animal and eat them raw?  Would mother nature really make it so that animal agriculture is a necessity?  Even though it’s killing the planet?  If this was something so natural, it wouldn’t be killing us from eating it, or ruining the earth, or harm so many animals in the process.

  1. I have never went vegan but I do go a couple months of being a vegetarian then fall back into eating meat. I give myself the excuse that it is hard to stick to the vegetarian lifestyle due to my job; being that I travel for a living. Even though it is a somewhat of a valid reason for not sticking with it, it still is an excuse. I do plan on becoming a vegetarian again and one day TRYING (lol) to be a vegan. You have to put it in your mind and heart that that is what you want to do. And honestly I haven’t gotten there yet. But I am a work in progress. Thanks for this post and inspiration.

    • I have struggled with labels for a while Kelley. In truth, I don’t even feel comfortable calling myself a “vegan” because of numerous reasons…don’t you feel like it puts you in a box or something? But I figure, this world is full of them, so I’ll jump in this one–it’s pretty cozy and welcoming at least 🙂

      • Haha yes these boxes are an unnecessary hassle sometimes! [Hence the veggie in your title instead of vegan. I see you!]

I have met a”pescatarian”… that eats chicken. “Vegetarians”… that eat fish… and vegans that enjoy honey in their tea and “regular food” on the weekends.. So I’m like just say you don’t eat meat or whatever! Or don’t even bring it up if you’re not there yet. You’re really not doing anything but confusing me and yourself!

Some vegans are cool tho 😉
