#HCLF My First Day Fully Raw ~ Yikes!!!

Where have I been all week??!!  Well, I’ve been in my own head.  Today is my Mother’s birthday and I’m thinking about her, and even though I’m not crying and depressed, I’m a little pissed.  Pissed off because she’s gone of course, she was freakin’ amazing!!  Yet I have a big splash of joy filling me up?  I think that big splash of joy is thanks to her and the awesome life that she and my father gave me.  Which leads me to my next self-improvement project.

So after some youtube binging mixed in with a lot of late night reading and some writing.  I decided it was time to put my big girl-vegan-panties on and try the raw vegan diet.  The theory behind this diet is the abundant intake of live enzymes and phyto nutrients because they have not been killed off by heat/cooking, oh and lot os lovely REAL fructose.  I’m not saying that eating cooked food is evil, but you can’t argue with the facts.  One is more nutrient dense than the other, and with WAY more cancer-fighting antioxidant power.  I’m all about fighting cancer, and being the best version of myself and I decided that there was no harm in trying it.  This lifestyle gets a bad rap it seems, and of it does–there is not money in this lifestyle!  Meaning, if everyone on the planet lived this way, there wouldn’t need to be as many hospitals, insurance plans, pharmaceuticals, coffee stocks would take a hit, the weight loss industry would go extinct, and so on.  Here is how my first day went:

Breakfast was a jug of green citrus juice that I had juiced the night before.  It really gave me a surge of energy and even WP_20150831_001 (2)thought it is a liquid and not a complete “meal” in my opinion, because I don’t feel too satiated, but I was nutritional charged and content.  This gave me my caffeine fix, because it literally woke me up the same way a cup of tea or coffee would, minus the caffeine jitters and false appetite suppression.

Mono-Meal ~ Melon was my brunch, and just what I needed.  My energy surge kept me going strong long enough to get my morning demands done, and now it was time to fill up on fructose and hydrating goodies.  I already shared with you my new love for mono meals 😉

WP_20150907_15_43_50_Pro 1Salsa Salad Wraps I had around 4:00pm or so and it was just what I needed.  So I’m learning that those who eat fully raw eat A LOT, like 10-30 bananas at a time!  That’s a lot of food and my tummy is not used to that just yet.  so I took my time today and ate meals whenever I felt hungry and ate until I was satisfied.  These romaine lettuce leaves spread with savory walnut butter and topped off with my spicy homemade salsa was just what I needed.  I wasn’t in the mood for something sweet, and this salsa hit the spot.

WP_20150907_18_21_40_ProZucchini Noodle Tahini Pasta was my last filling meal for the night and I really went out with a bang.  I made a tahini sauce with cilantro, lemon, raisins, ginger and it was soooo yummy!  It took a little effort on my part to finish because to my surprise, it was VERY filling and satisfying.  Yet I still had this hankering for desert, specifically chocolate.

InstagramCapture_c702303c-41b3-4ec3-ac70-b7c5b75f6e49Raw Brownies made with a mix of walnuts, dates, chopped almonds and cocoa powder was just what my body ordered.  My boys loved it too.  They engorged themselves on pears earlier, and after their dinner they thought they deserved a treat as well.  This was a great end to my day and reassured me that being fully raw is possible and satisfying.

  1. That’s awesome!!! You inspire me to want to write about food now lol. I stopped eating raw when winter last year came because I didn’t know about raw soups and also I missed my pastas and hearty winter soups =/ Really excited to see if you do it till winter hits what recipes you’re gonna come up with!! Have you checked out Fully Raw Kristina on youtube? She has amazing recipes you might want to try out.

    • yes, I love her youtube site! She has one where she covers what she eats in winter. If I can ever get my hands on a fresh coconut, I can’t wait to make a raw soup. You should write about food, I’ll read it 😉 I have to say that eating raw is a challenge…yet, it’s so simple.
