Happy Year Round Father’s Day

Being a Father means that you took part in creating life, then dedicated your existence to protecting and providing for that life, in addition to your own.  Well, that’s my definition at least.  This is my definition because that is what I had growing up.  I had a Father that did everything for the sole purpose of enriching the lives of his children.  I still remember being in the back of our Nissan minivan taking road trips to Orlando (who does that all the way from Jersey?!), D.C, and even mini trips to the nearest military base so we could buy out the commissary.  Besides the road trips, he gave his all (physically and emotionally) to us.  He used to take me to sewing classes, and taught my brothers how to box, all the while he was withering away with cancer and other ailments from the war.  We never noticed his suffering, because he chose to instead focus on entertaining and educating us.  He truly Fathered us.  I was so happy as a child with him around.Daddy_You_CJ

Now as an adult, specifically as a Mother, I feel that same happiness and lightness of my heart when I see my children with their father, my husband.  I already see the qualities he shares with my Father and the promise of a bright, fun future with him being a real father according to my definition, and I am so warm and fuzzy with hope and gratitude thanks to that.635705112317576467

I applaud my husband for focusing on his family and his children and loving us with his thoughts, goals and most importantly, his actions.  Thank you Elvin for excelling in your career so your boys can be proud of who their Papi is, and have a real role model.  Thank you for fixing all of their toys and teaching Stephan how to change the oil in the car, letting them know that Papi fixes things.  Thank you for teaching Stephan how to treat women with respect. Thank you for reading bed time stories, even though they put you to sleep before the boys.  Thank you for the little things, for the things that wouldn’t be the same coming from Mommy.  Thank you for the bear hugs, piggy back rides and beat up Papi sessions.  Thank you for the little things that add up to one huge thing: being a loving Father.

For these reasons and many more you will always be the daddy that “gets the big piece of chicken” (Chris Rock joke lol).
